I have always loved my hats!  Especially vintage ones.  To this day, I have a little light green hat with floral trim.  It has a vintage Easter look to it, but fit right in above my Reservoir Dogs baby tee, baggy jeans and Adidas Sheltos (I’m hearing those are coming back, a topic I can’t get into right now).  I wore that outfit one of my first days of junior high, and I’ve been wearing colorful hats ever since.  Hats transform an outfit, hide a bad hairdo, and separate a person from the pack.  We’re not talking baseball caps, though I do wear… MORE

Haskell’s Haute Fakes

Amongst feather boas and English china, glistening rings and earrings with clip-ons, a scent much like Chanel No. 5 on someone’s dead bubbie lingered in the air… but I didn’t care; because more important than being picky, I was hooked! “There must be something good in there,” my eyes spread wide, like my hand as it tried to grow as big as my dad’s. My mom nodded, carefully inspecting the necklace of her choice, a blush cameo on the end of a delicate gold chain, while I scooped my way through the pile of pink and blue and green and gold plastic, like a mouse… MORE

Lemme in on Some Lucite

About six years ago, I realized I didn’t really have a fabulous clutch — or any for that matter, besides my mom’s beaded purse from the 70’s (some things are not vintage, just old).  As with most things, I went overboard, and now I have baskets full.  However, I would happily make room for one of the incredible babies by Edie Parker: new lucite clutches, like the glamour girls used to rock.  They come complete with — are you ready?  A  mirror attached inside!  What  more could a glamour girl these days want?  Not much.  I found some  vintage clutches that I mixed in:… MORE

I seem to be having a lot of Cher from Clueless moments.  This time, it happened in a mall; actually, just being in a mall reminds me of Clueless.  Walking through the Beverly Center the other day with my friend Julie, I gasped as if grasping for my last breath.  She wondered if something was wrong – I have, in fact, had major surgery on my entire spine.  No, it wasn’t that: it was the site of a gorgeous new bag. The house formerly (and forever known) for 70’s lounge pants, Bianca Jagger (same thing), and Jacqueline Kennedy’s  pillbox hat is… MORE

Green Bean

Don’t get me wrong, I love my black.  And for a while there, I wore nothing but popsicle colors.  There is a balance, and it’s in rich colors that make us pop. Take the color green — one look at the About BAG page, and you’ll see how much I love it. From kelly to forrest green,  I have six or seven dresses, and why not?  It brings out our skin, hair and eyes in such an incredible way.  Dark green is wonderful on brunettes (and dark redheads), while light to medium green is fabulous on blondes (and light redheads); but… MORE

Oscar Fashion BAG Style

Hello, my Little Baggers, Welcome to the blog!  I am so excited to share “doing vintage modern” with you. Because I never made it out of Hollywood, it is quite parfait that the first post is about the Oscars.  Glitz and glamour and someone will spill champagne.  Though I haven’t been to the big event just yet, I was a guest several times at the Daytime Emmy’s when I was on Days of Our Lives.  My favorite formal piece is a fluffy ostrich wrap that is worn around the neck.  It’s a hundred and thirty years old (definitely vintage)! The… MORE
