Hats

I have always loved my hats!  Especially vintage ones.  To this day, I have a little light green hat with floral trim.  It has a vintage Easter look to it, but fit right in above my Reservoir Dogs baby tee, baggy jeans and Adidas Sheltos (I’m hearing those are coming back, a topic I can’t get into right now).  I wore that outfit one of my first days of junior high, and I’ve been wearing colorful hats ever since.  Hats transform an outfit, hide a bad hairdo, and separate a person from the pack.  We’re not talking baseball caps, though I do wear… MORE

Haskell’s Haute Fakes

Amongst feather boas and English china, glistening rings and earrings with clip-ons, a scent much like Chanel No. 5 on someone’s dead bubbie lingered in the air… but I didn’t care; because more important than being picky, I was hooked! “There must be something good in there,” my eyes spread wide, like my hand as it tried to grow as big as my dad’s. My mom nodded, carefully inspecting the necklace of her choice, a blush cameo on the end of a delicate gold chain, while I scooped my way through the pile of pink and blue and green and gold plastic, like a mouse… MORE

Day to Night

Could we get any busier?  Day to night, night to day (oh, mon dieu)!  For the latter, we have these, but what about the former?  What do you do when you are out running around all day and going straight to dinner or you leave work and head to a restaurant for a date?  Of course, you can bring an outfit with you, but I never like to pick out two ensembles in the morning.  And what if you don’t have time to change because you’re out and about?  With just a little swish of your hair and a click… MORE

Lemme in on Some Lucite

About six years ago, I realized I didn’t really have a fabulous clutch — or any for that matter, besides my mom’s beaded purse from the 70’s (some things are not vintage, just old).  As with most things, I went overboard, and now I have baskets full.  However, I would happily make room for one of the incredible babies by Edie Parker: new lucite clutches, like the glamour girls used to rock.  They come complete with — are you ready?  A  mirror attached inside!  What  more could a glamour girl these days want?  Not much.  I found some  vintage clutches that I mixed in:… MORE

Bring it On, Bouchon

I’ve been quiet lately, dealing with some pesty problems at home — but no more.  Time to go out!  Bouchon means bottle cap.  When you get me talking, especially about fashion, it’s hard for me to put a cork in it. Bouchon, in Beverly Hills, is the perfect place to chat, and  spend an evening under the stars.  It is just  the right excuse to get a little dressed up on a Thursday night! I am definitely a clutch girl — and this one happens to be very sparkly, and the only vintage I am wearing… like I say…  What… MORE

B & W BAG

I seem to be having a lot of Cher from Clueless moments.  This time, it happened in a mall; actually, just being in a mall reminds me of Clueless.  Walking through the Beverly Center the other day with my friend Julie, I gasped as if grasping for my last breath.  She wondered if something was wrong – I have, in fact, had major surgery on my entire spine.  No, it wasn’t that: it was the site of a gorgeous new bag. The house formerly (and forever known) for 70’s lounge pants, Bianca Jagger (same thing), and Jacqueline Kennedy’s  pillbox hat is… MORE

Green Bean

Don’t get me wrong, I love my black.  And for a while there, I wore nothing but popsicle colors.  There is a balance, and it’s in rich colors that make us pop. Take the color green — one look at the About BAG page, and you’ll see how much I love it. From kelly to forrest green,  I have six or seven dresses, and why not?  It brings out our skin, hair and eyes in such an incredible way.  Dark green is wonderful on brunettes (and dark redheads), while light to medium green is fabulous on blondes (and light redheads); but… MORE

Eclectic Sunshine

Since it’s raining here today in Los Angeles (thank you, Goddess), it’s a perfect time to cozy-up under my poor man’s cashmere blanket (acrylic throw from West Elm ) and remember what it was like just a few days ago when it was scorching degrees. I was flipping through my beloved Elle, past the amazing Amy Poehler, who I am forever grateful for (she founded UCB where I learned improv), and I came across the fashion story Bohemian Rhapsody.  If you know me, you know my style is not usually described as bohemian; but the looks in the Elle spread are so different, and that’s something… MORE
